L&T Infotech, the information technology arm of engineering major Larsen & Toubro, has acquired Citigroup’s Canadian IT outsourcing arm, Citigroup Fund Services Canada (CFSC). The deal, say senior officials, is around $40 million (Rs 180 crore). L&T takes on board 200 employees, of which 90 per cent are IT professionals. This comes at a time when the industry is witnessing an increase in merger and acquisition (M&A) activity. However, L&T Infotech has been fairly quiet in the M&A space after it failed to acquire scam-hit Satyam Computer Services in 2009. CFSC is a provider of integrated securities and fund services to Canada’s investment fund industry. It was part of Citi’s Global Transaction Services business, which offers integrated cash management, trade, and securities and fund services to entities round the world. Sudip Banerjee, CEO of L&T Infotech, could not be spoken to, as he was out of the country. A senior official said, “The acquisition is fairly small, but it gives the company a good presence in Canada and also adds to its banking and financial offering.” For L&T Infotech, BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) and energy contributes around 30 per cent and manufacturing around 20-25 per cent of revenue. It also has presence in media and entertainment, healthcare, and telecom. In an earlier conversation with Business Standard, Banerjee had said the company’s inorganic (growth from within) strategy would be based on three initiatives — geography, new service lines and getting key people in. As part of the acquisition, L&T Infotech will be Citigroup’s exclusive provider of transfer agency technology services in Canada. |

One Night 4 college students were playing till late night and could not study for the test which was scheduled for the next day.
In the morning they thought of a plan. They made themselves look as dirty with grease and dirt. They then went up to
The Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tire of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test.

DEAR FRND
I can’t give you solutions to all of life’s problems, doubts, or fears.
But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers.
I can’t keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.
Your j...oys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine;
Yet I can share in your laughter.
Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge;
I can only support you, encourage you, and help you when you ask.
I can’t prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me.
I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.
I can’t give you boundaries, which I have determined for you,But I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself.
I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting,But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place.I can’t tell you who you are.I can only love you and be your friend.

Campus recruitment 2010-2011 begins: Accenture violates Nasscom rule
IT firms TCS, Infosys and Wipro are accusing have accused Accenture of violating campus recruitment norms. They accuse that Accenture has begun campus recruitment a full one semester year ahead and violated the Nasscom norms.
Even a couple of years back, IT companies used to hire engineering graduates a year before they passed out. However, Nasscom asked top colleges last year to postpone their placement season to the final semester. This was done to ensure that software firms would go in for just- in-time hiring, to ensure that they do not over hire in an environment where project pipelines were under pressure.
Owing to this rule the campus placement had begun only during the last semester for the students. Nasscom had written to all IT firms asking them to continue this trend for the current year also.But IT firms allege that Accenture had violated this directive by giving offer letters to students in a couple of colleges based in Pune and Ahmedabad.The colleges where Accenture has given offer letters are Sinhgad group of institutions in Pune and Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication in Gujarat. Two people involved in the placement process at these two institutes confirmed that Accenture had issued offer letters.
Will other companies also follow suit with Accenture or stick on with Nasscom rule? Either ways, IT industry is back and back in a big way as we have been reporting.

Infosys rejects 94% of applications it received: Jobs at Infosys
It is the time of the year, when college exams are over and those passed out are on the hunt for the job. India’s second largest IT company,Infosys, a dream company to many, maintained its reputation of being a dream company. It received a whooping 4,00,812 applications from prospective employees, out of which around 77,000 applicants underwent written test, approximately 61,000 were interviewed and 26,200 job offers were made in the fiscal year 2009-10. Which is only 6 percent of the total applications received.
To divulge further, out of the 26,200 offers made, 18,905 joined the company. Besides, the net addition, after taking into account the attrition during the year, to the company’s payroll was 6,837 employees in the fiscal ended March 31, 2010. Which means out of the total offers made, 72 percent of people joined, which clearly are signs of a much improved market with umpteen number of opportunities.
Including its subsidiaries, Infosys employed approximately 1,13,800 employees at the end of last fiscal.
The company recruits new students from premier universities, colleges and institutes in India and through need-based hiring of project leaders and middle managers. Besides, it has also begun selective recruitment at campuses in the US, the UK, Australia and China.
It claims to “rely on a rigorous selection process involving a series of aptitude tests and interviews to identify the best applicants. This selection process is continually assessed and refined based on performance tracking of past recruits.” -->
